I offer private piano lessons to students of all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced pianist, I can help you improve your skills and reach your goals. My lessons are tailored to your individual needs and preferences.
I accept children as young as five years old as well as beginners well into their senior years. With children, I begin with a classical approach, which means learning to read notes in both treble and bass clef. However, because I also live in the world of jazz and pop, for some children I find that playing from leadsheets and improvising is more rewarding.
I teach theory and composition, and sneak some of that into my normal piano lessons. Students who are not interested in piano are welcome to study these related disciplines with me as stand-alone subjects.
I am especially well-suited to very bright, creative students who may question more than some might appreciate.
I moved to Longmont in 2021, after 45 years of living, teaching, and performing in Chicago. I taught at the Old Town School of Folk Music, at Columbia College Chicago, and maintained a roster of private piano students that often numbered more than 40. I am a member in good standing of the American Federation of Musicians.
